Service Station Blues

We were at the garage a few days ago, in Makeni, South of Lusaka City. We couldn’t help but pose, taken by the ruggedness of the space and much to the surprised delight of our mechanics.

Almost all the pieces of our outfits are thrifted (salaula), except of course, Kii’s bespoke tailored blouse and Kahyi’s beaded bangles and mrp sneakers.

we aren’t sure exactly which part of Zambia it started in, but we are sure that it is a play on the english word ‘Fashion’and therefore could probably be claimed by most, if not all tribes. 🙂

      Thanks again,
      Kahyi & Kii,

  5. ?? amazing outfits. What I’ve been dying to ask is where you thrift from? ? or more specifically the areas in lusaka where you find the best salaula?

      Thank you, Joanna!

We thrift pretty much everywhere in Lusaka.
But our favourite spots are the Lamise warehouse in Makeni and Dapp Cairo Road 🙂
